John Cameron Mitchell Oakland Theatre reviews
Barry Manilow concert was terrific.
John Cameron Mitchell sang all his greatest hits at the show, which was terrific. One song, Copacabana, could have been done better. He sang it in a faster tempo at the end of the concert, making it seem like he was in a hurry to end the concert (which I'm sure was not the case). The faster tempo detracted from the strong dance beat. Since Copacabana is the best & most popular dance song he has ever recorded, I would have liked to see him do a longer version, at the original tempo, with a bongo solo in the middle of the song. It would have been a memorable finish to the concert for his many fans. Great concert. He is one of a very few artists where his fans, including me, like ALL of his recorded songs.
